CCM and cyanobacteria

This is my newest project and it is run I collaborate with Prof. Wei Dai from the Cell Biology and Neuroscience Department at Rutgers University.
This project is the second one that we work on together to understand the connection between structure and function in marine/aquatic photoautotrophs.
Here we are using the marine cyanobacteria Synechococcus WH8109 to understand structure and function of the Carbon Concentration Mechanism (CCM) in cyanobacteria. We are combing cyanobacteria physiology, protein abundance, and activity measurements together with  Cryo- Electron tomography (CryoET) to understand how the CCM mechanism is being control by structure.

In the foreseen future we also intend on looking at structure of thylakoid membrane in this organism.
